Stacey Flint is proof that talking to someone, even in a casual conversation, about what you do for a living can inspire others to follow in your footsteps. Flint was inspired by a woman in construction who owns her own business.
“She opened an opportunity for me that I never knew existed,” Flint said.
Early in her construction career, Flint was introduced to aviation.
“Getting to work in and around airports is exciting, and the work is challenging and complex,” she said. “Problem-solving abounds.”
Beginning as an intern with JE Dunn in 2013, she advanced to her current position, senior project manager.
This past year, she successfully delivered the $330M Parking and Consolidated Car Rental (PACR) facility at Portland International Airport (PDX). Flint's arrival at PDX began as JE Dunn's lead project manager for the $60M enabling work. The work included moving underground airport utilities, road modifications, parking capacity adjustments, building new underground tunnel structures, and a new exit plaza where airport visitors/travelers pay for parking.
Going forward she said, “I would like to help JE Dunn and the industry continue to grow and support women and minorities, to utilize our strength and longevity for the benefit of all people. I think this resonates in the aviation industry as well. Let’s make the world more accessible for everyone.”
When she is not at work, Flint helps others in various ways. She put her construction experience to work building housing with Habitat for Humanity and helped renovate the lobby of a domestic violence support organization. Along with her project team, she spear-headed a donation/collection drive for a shelter for women and children. She raises money and organizes supply drives for Oregon Food Bank and the American Heart Association. In addition, she volunteers with SOLVE Oregon, serves as a mentor for Women in Construction and is active in sustainability efforts with the US Green Building Council. Within the construction community, she is active with organizations like the National Association of Women in Construction and the National Association of Minority Contractors.
