As an architect at Gensler, Mason Edge has played an impactful role in the design of many successful aviation environments over the last decade.

Since joining the firm in 2011, he has worked on strategies for major airline clients and airport projects in destinations including New York, Los Angeles, Toronto and Nairobi.

Among his first projects was Terminal 4 Concourse B at JFK. Edge worked with Delta Air Lines on the second phase of their expansion and redevelopment program. He assisted with designing a ground-up concourse expansion that added 11 new gates as well as streamlining the existing terminal to improve the customer experience and airline operations.

“I’m grateful to have had the opportunity to contribute to this project from concept through completion,” he said. “This chance to jump into the deep end provided a great jump start to my career in aviation.”

From designing boutique lounges to mega terminal planning, Edge said, “I love how multifaceted aviation is.”

Edge consistently finds innovative solutions to his clients’ most pressing needs. In 2016, he helped launch JetBlue’s Bag Drop at JFK’s Terminal 5, marking the first major self-service bag tag and bag drop system at the airport. Edge worked with JetBlue to expand the lobby, ensuring passengers have more room to move and set their own check-in pace using self-service kiosks strategically clustered throughout the open space.

To further enhance the airport experience through innovation, Edge helped reconceive Delta’s Need Help Center function and aesthetic, which is currently being rolled out across the airline’s network. In collaboration with Delta’s broader design and customer experience teams, Edge designed the layout and finishes for Need Help areas, ensuring the technology and experience were seamlessly integrated via displays, kiosks and service counters.

In 2021, Edge was honored with the Delta LGA Design & Construction program's  “Keep Climbing Award,” which recognizes a team member who goes above and beyond their duties, striving to improve and exceed expectations. Delta had enlisted the Gensler team to design Concourse E at Terminal C at LaGuardia Airport, which launched in June 2022.
