Delta Adds New Rome Service, Celebrates All Terminal A Gate Operations at Logan Airport

Sept. 24, 2019

Delta is continuing to build on a memorable year in Boston with the announcement of new summer service between Boston and Rome, part of the airline’s 2020 plans for expanded flying from three of the airline’s hubs to 10 popular trans-Atlantic destinations.

The new flights were announced at Logan International Airport as Delta, which recently designated Boston as its newest hub, officially assumed operations at all gates in Logan’s Terminal A, making the airline the terminal’s sole operator for the first time since the facility opened in 2005.

“Boston is a tremendous international city, and Delta’s ongoing investments here are delivering a truly world-class experience from ground to air,” said Delta CEO Ed Bastian. “From offering more international seats out of Boston than any other carrier to being the only airline at Logan with a fully dedicated terminal, we’re continuing to set ourselves apart for customers in ways that only Delta and our nearly 2,000 Boston-based Delta people can.”

“We are pleased with Delta’s increasing presence in Massachusetts and its continued contributions to driving economic growth and development in the Commonwealth,” said Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker. “These new flights to and from Logan Airport will serve Massachusetts’ growing economy well, and we look forward to working together to see continued progress and development.”

Boston’s fastest-growing global carrier, now with more gates in Terminal A

Terminal A is the only terminal at Logan to offer CLEAR and the only airport facility with multiple club locations for a single airline. One of those Delta Sky Clubs will expand significantly by early next year to include new showers, which will open later this fall, as well as additional seating and a reimagined food and beverage area. Meanwhile, the gate areas are being refreshed with a modern look and feel to include new carpet, new seating and finishes, and more power. And Massport is partnering with Delta to implement a range of new food and beverage concepts throughout the facility.

“Delta continues to be a great partner,” said Massport CEO Lisa Wieland. “Their growing presence at Logan Airport offers more choices for our passengers, including their new service to Rome.”
