An STC has been issued for the GKN Aerospace-Fokker business EFB for iPad solution including DAC International’s Tablet Adapter Interface Unit (TAIU) for the Airbus A320 aircraft.
DAC INTERNATIONAL INC. (DAC), a subsidiary of Aero Precision Holdings LP, announced today that a Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) has been issued for the GKN Aerospace-Fokker business EFB for iPad solution including DAC International’s Tablet Adapter Interface Unit (TAIU) for the Airbus A320 aircraft. The standard EFB for iPad solution offers two mounts in the cockpit and charging. As an option a free programmable one-way data connection with the ARINC-429 bus and charging is offered via DAC International’s GDC64 TAIU. In this case the customer opted for displaying the own ship position on the iPad, derived from the aircraft Flight Management System (FMS). They now have a flawlessly operating Aircraft Moving Map (AMM) application on the iPad in the cockpit.“We’re really excited to be part of this STC and Fokker’s possibility to offer this to its customers worldwide. Using aircraft data on the EFB in the cockpit gives endless possibilities to improve and simplify cockpit procedures and benefit from real time data.” said Cisco Hernandez, President of DAC International.“The GDC64 from DAC International provides a great added value to our already very successful EFB for iPadÒ solution. We can now offer our customers a one-way ARINC-429 data connection and hence meet the market demand.” said Bert Leijen, Product Manager Modifications of GKN Aerospace-Fokker business.About DAC International Inc.DAC International, a subsidiary of Aero Precision Holdings LP is a worldwide distributor of avionics, test equipment, data converters and aviation supplies. The company has an FAA approved manufacturing and development facility, holding several STC’s, PMA’s and TSO’s.  Products are compliant with DO-160, MIL-STD-810C and MIL-STD-461F, containing software that meets the objectives of DO-178B, Levels A thru E.  For more information on DAC or its products and service offerings, visit www.dacint.com.About GKN Aerospace-Fokker BusinessGKN Aerospace is the world’s leading multi-technology tier 1 aerospace supplier.
