V-Log Sponsors Trivia Quiz, Gives Away Tablet Computers

May 2, 2016
In its ongoing movement to educate the aviation community about logbook best practices, V-Log is giving away three tablet computers as daily prizes for trivia quiz participants.

Larry Hinebaugh of V-Log Aircraft Digital Logbooks is leading a movement against the status quo in aircraft maintenance logbook practices.

In most other fields and in our households, it has become common practice to back up important documents.

And yet, most aircraft owners could not recreate their complete maintenance logbooks if it became necessary – meaning, if the maintenance logbooks were destroyed, they would have to “total” the aircraft. It happens, and there are several examples in the book!

Many aircraft owners, maintenance technicians and even DOMs simply accept the common practice of relying on a single copy of a paper logbook, perhaps supplemented with portions of the aircraft maintenance record backed up by the internal electronic systems of certain maintenance providers.

This leaves the aircraft value vulnerable to any number of incidents, accidents and mishaps that result in missing records, incomplete, misplaced or destroyed logbooks.

Hinebaugh has written a short book with case studies of many such incidents – Aircraft Logbooks, A Plane Owners’ Guide. The Guide, and Trivia Quiz entry forms, are available from Booth #519. V-Log team members will be choosing one completed entry each afternoon at 3:00 PM.

Participants must be present to win.
