Cologne, Germany — Several people were injured at Cologne/Bonn airport on Friday when a motorist steered his car into a group of pedestrians in a parking garage, police confirmed.
The man drove towards people in a targeted manner, but most were able to get out of the way, a police spokesman said at the scene.
The injuries sustained were mostly minor, and no-one was critically injured, he added.
The 57-year-old driver was detained and is in hospital. He is believed to be mentally ill.
Two police officers were slightly injured because the man resisted arrest.
