Ontario International Airport (ONT) reported a 6.3% increase in passenger traffic in February, with more than 478,000 travelers moving through the Southern California gateway.
Domestic traffic rose 2.1% to 423,094 passengers, while international traffic surged 55.1% to 55,531, continuing a trend of strong growth in cross-border travel demand. Year-to-date passenger volumes reached more than 971,000, up 5% compared to the same period last year.
Airport officials attributed the gains to continued demand for accessible, convenient travel options across the Inland Empire and greater Southern California region.
Air cargo activity also showed significant growth. Total cargo volumes increased 10.3% in February, driven by a 13.3% rise in freight shipments. Mail volumes declined slightly, but overall cargo throughput continues to trend upward, reinforcing ONT’s role as a major logistics hub.
Southwest Airlines accounted for the largest share of passengers during the month, followed by American, Alaska, Delta and United.
The results highlight ONT’s continued momentum as both a passenger gateway and a top-tier cargo airport, with growth across key segments supporting its expanding role in the region’s aviation network.
