Boise Airport (BOI) has named Nate Vogel as its new Deputy Director of Operations, strengthening the airport’s leadership team as passenger demand and operational complexity continue to grow.

In the role, Vogel will oversee airport operations, security, technology and airfield maintenance, supporting day-to-day performance as well as long-term readiness across the airfield and terminal environment.

Vogel brings more than 20 years of airport operations experience, including leadership roles at large, FAA Part 139–certificated airports operating in complex and high-stakes environments. His background includes extensive work in airfield compliance, operational resilience and multidisciplinary team management.

In addition to his civilian aviation career, Vogel has served in the U.S. Air Force since 2010. Most recently, he held the role of Director for the Secretary of the Air Force–Chief of Staff of the Air Force Strategic Execution Group, where he led executive decision-support efforts for senior Air Force leadership and helped direct enterprise-level actions across a global aviation portfolio.

Airport officials said Vogel’s experience in strategic planning, technology program oversight and interagency collaboration aligns with BOI’s focus on operational excellence and community trust.

“I’m excited to join the Boise Airport team at a time of continued growth and opportunity,” Vogel said. “BOI has a strong reputation for operational excellence, community trust and thoughtful planning, and I’m honored to contribute to that work.”

Vogel holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science from the University of Nebraska, along with master’s degrees in organizational sciences and management from The George Washington University and national security strategy from the National War College.
