The Oakland Public Library (OPL) and Oakland San Francisco Bay Airport (OAK) have launched a new initiative offering travelers complimentary access to digital reading materials during the holiday travel period. Beginning Nov. 24, digital signage throughout the terminal will promote free ebooks, audiobooks, and magazines available through the Libby app.

The program gives all airport visitors immediate access to a curated collection of titles, with residents gaining full access through a traditional library card and visitors able to access a limited-time pass. The effort aims to make reading more accessible for passengers moving through the airport during peak travel periods.

“We are thrilled to partner with the airport and make it easy for travelers to read on the go,” said Jamie Turbak, director of the Oakland Public Library. “Whether local or visiting from abroad, everyone can find something great to read during their journey.”

The collaboration supports OAK’s efforts to enhance the passenger experience with more digital and self-serve amenities. “We thank Oakland Public Library for providing this exciting new program that enhances the experience of travelers at OAK,” said Craig Simon, the airport’s director of aviation.

OPL’s collection includes thousands of digital titles for adults, teens, and children. Content can be downloaded for offline use, and materials automatically expire at the end of the lending period.
