Sheltair Welcomes Triple Crown Hopeful American Pharoah to Long Island MacArthur Airport
Perhaps one of the most demanding passengers ever to be welcomed by Sheltair descended from his chartered aircraft at Long Island MacArthur Airport this past week where he was hailed, acclaimed, pampered, petted, and watered. That passenger was American Pharoah, who is the horse that thoroughbred bettors say could win the Triple Crown when he races at Belmont, Long Island this weekend before a crowd that could number over 90,000 people.
Warren Kroeppel, Chief Operating Officer (COO), of Sheltair, stated, “Over time, we have welcomed thousands of thoroughbreds at our Republic Airport facility as well as Long Island MacArthur, so we were prepared and comfortable in providing for the unique needs of these special passengers. The only difference for American Pharoah was that there was a welcoming committee that ranged from racing fans to elected officials. Islip Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter even sought out bales of hay to present as part of an equine friendly welcome.”
The chartered 727 belonging to “First Class Equine Air Travel” arrived on time under rainy skies and was quickly directed to Sheltair’s hangar to allow American Pharoah to gather its luggage and depart the aircraft for its transport to Belmont.
“We wish our passenger the best of luck in having a successful business weekend on Long Island. But then again, we do that for all our guests,” concluded Kroeppel.
