Universal Aviation and AERODOM, part of the VINCI Airports network, have officially opened a new purpose-built FBO terminal at Presidente Juan Bosch International Airport in Samaná, marking a major investment in the Dominican Republic’s expanding private aviation sector.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by senior government and industry officials, including Igor Rodríguez, Director General of the Dominican Institute of Civil Aviation, and Juan Bancalari, President of the National Hotel and Tourism Association.

The new terminal is Universal Aviation’s third FBO in the Dominican Republic, joining facilities in Santo Domingo and Puerto Plata. The expansion reflects sustained growth in private aviation activity and reinforces the country’s role as a leading regional gateway.

Rodríguez noted the importance of the investment for national aviation infrastructure, adding that the sector continues to see strong growth fueled by tourism and economic development. “Facilities like this new FBO elevate the user experience and support the quality and competitiveness of our aeronautical system,” he said.

Universal Aviation Chairman Greg Evans highlighted the company’s progress since first establishing operations in the country in 2016. “We are proud of how far we’ve come—now covering multiple airports, handling thousands of flights, and adding this new FBO in Samaná as a signature location,” Evans said.

AERODOM Chief Commercial Officer Alexandra Malvezin said the terminal positions Samaná alongside top global destinations for executive aviation and supports ongoing tourism development in the region.

The 300-square-meter facility, designed by architect Rubén Merette and built by Abbot Puig, features a private passenger lounge, a contemporary main hall, a panoramic terrace, onsite immigration and customs, an executive kitchen, and dedicated crew areas. The building incorporates energy-efficient systems aligned with VINCI Airports’ sustainability goals.

The FBO provides full ground handling and concierge services for business and private aircraft, along with valet parking and executive catering.

Danilo Rosario Jiménez, General Director of Universal Aviation Dominican Republic, said the project reflects long-term confidence in Samaná’s market. He emphasized its impact on regional employment, training, and premium tourism development.

The launch comes as Samaná continues to attract luxury travelers and large-scale tourism investment, further establishing Presidente Juan Bosch International Airport as a strategic gateway for high-value aviation in the Caribbean.
