Pullman-Moscow Regional Airport Board of Director Approves Designation of Airport as Schweitzer Field
The Pullman-Moscow Regional Airport Board of Directors, at its meeting Wednesday evening, unanimously approved the designation of the airport as Schweitzer Field in honor of Edmund O. Schweitzer III and Beatriz Schweitzer for their positive impact on the entire Palouse region. The airport will be known as the Pullman Moscow Regional Airport at Schweitzer Field and the designation will be seen on the outside of the new terminal and on the inside of the of the modern, 48,000 sq. foot structure that passengers will be using in a few months. The designation for the airport remains PUW.
Pullman Mayor and Chair of the board, Glenn A. Johnson said, “This entire region has benefited from Schweitzer’s positive impact---the company he created—SEL—with presence in Pullman, Moscow, and Lewiston and the thousands of employee owners in this region. Ed and Beatriz’s generosity has impacted so many including educational institutions, health care, Boy and Girl Scouts, cities, and this Airport when we needed local funding to match federal money during the construction of our runway.”
“When I visit with other airport executives,” said Tony Bean, Executive Director of the Pullman Moscow Regional Airport, “they are amazed at how much progress we have made here with two states, two cities, two universities, and two counties on our board. Airport leadership has this region as our primary focus, and we have all benefited from the public-private partnership that Ed and SEL represents and its leadership in business aviation.”
SEL aviation fleet serves their customers around the world from the Pullman-Moscow Regional Airport and one of their pilots, Brian Hemingway, lends his expertise to the board as the City of Pullman representative.
