Mumbai’s CSMIA Celebrates ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav,’ Offers Engaging Activities for Passengers

Sept. 30, 2021

As a portrayal of India’s Independence and its history, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) is organizing activities and programs for its passengers to celebrate “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav.” To commemorate 75 years of progressive India, this celebration will bring together passengers to experience fun-filled events for an exciting transit from CSMIA.

Starting Oct. 1, CSMIA will host a three-day Warli Art painting workshop, where artists will teach passengers and kids passing through the terminal to paint the artform on the provided gift cards. At the end of art session, passengers can take the finished piece along with them as a souvenir. Warli painting is a form of tribal art that roots from the North Sahyadri Range in Maharashtra. Painted white on mud walls, the art form is pretty close to pre-historic cave paintings in execution and usually depict scenes of human figures engaged in day-to-day activities.

To commemorate and celebrate India’s freedom fighters, the airport respectfully pays ode to the martyrs who contributed to today’s Independent India by displaying their courage and contribution on CSMIA’s social media platforms.
