Kazakhstan to Introduce Corrector Factors on Taxes to Support Country's Civil Aviation

Measures to support civil aviation industry amid coronavirus pandemic have been introduced in Kazakhstan, Trend reports with reference to Kazakhstan’s Civil Aviation Committee.

The committee said that the measures were developed by Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Industry and Infrastructure Development, Civil Aviation Committee and Ministry of National Economy in response to the group enquiry of airlines and aviation organizations.

The Kazakhstan’s Government has adopted the resolution on introducing ‘0’ correction factor to the rates of certain taxes and social payments.

The committee said that the ‘0’ factor is now applied to the rates of social tax, individual income tax withheld at the source of payment, mandatory pension contributions, social contributions, contributions and deductions for mandatory social health insurance for air passenger transport operations, as well as airport operations.

In order to prevent coronavirus spreading in Kazakhstan, the number of flights was reduced by 438 flights per week on international destinations on 97 routes, which makes up 99 percent of all international flights implemented.

Additionally, all domestic flights have been cancelled and currently no regular air services operate in the country.

On March 15, 2020, Kazakhstan’s President Kassym Jomart Tokayev signed a decree introducing an emergency state in Kazakhstan due to the coronavirus outbreak, which came in force from 08:00 (GMT +6) on March 16 till 08:00 April 15, 2020.

On Apr. 14, 2020, by a decree of Kazakhstan's president, the emergency state period in Kazakhstan was extended till May 1, 2020.

The total number of confirmed the coronavirus cases in Kazakhstan has reached 1,967. The first two cases of the coronavirus infection were detected in Kazakhstan among those who arrived in Almaty city from Germany on March 13, 2020.

The outbreak of the coronavirus began in the Chinese city of Wuhan (an international transport hub), at a fish market in late December 2019. The number of people killed by the disease has surpassed 170,400. Over 2.4 million people have been confirmed as infected, over 652,100 have reportedly recovered.

The World Health Organization (WHO) declared COVID-19 a pandemic on March 11. Some sources claim the coronavirus outbreak started as early as November 2019.
