An inert grenade in a piece of luggage caused a brief scare Thursday night at Detroit Metro Airport.

Transportation Security Administration agents saw the grenade just after 6:30 p.m. while scanning luggage in the North Terminal, said Erica Donerson, spokeswoman for the Wayne County Airport Authority.
