NY: Massena Airport Manager Shares Concerns About Unnecessary Overtime

MASSENA — Massena’s airport manager says he’s frustrated about calling in employees after hours — and paying overtime — to clear runways for unscheduled flights or only to have the flights not take off.

“Your pilots have landed and should be done for the night,” Frank Diagostino told Shawn Simpson, Boutique Air’s chief executive officer, during a special meeting with the Massena Town Council last week.

Instead, he said, in some cases pilots have indicated they’re not going to take off until snow is plowed from the runway.
