William O'Reilly, the Albany County Airport Authority's chief financial officer, on Wednesday said he plans to retire. O'Reilly joined the airport as CFO in 2008.

"William O'Reilly brought his financial expertise to the Airport Authority and under his leadership quickly elevated the Airport to its strongest financial position in its history," said Rev. Kenneth Doyle, chairman of the Albany County Airport Authority. "Today the Albany International Airport is recognized nationally by airlines and financial rating services for its outstanding financial planning, fiscal management and transparent financial reporting."

O'Reilly oversaw a $50 million annual budget. In 2015, Airports Council International — North America named his Financial Professional of the Year for small airports.

O'Reilly served in a number of positions with the New York State Comptroller's Office before joining the airport authority. He also is a past president of the New York State Government Finance Association.

O'Reilly's retirement announcement follows one by John O'Donnell, the airport authority's CEO, who on Monday announced he planned to retire. O'Donnell will remain in his position while $100 million in airport and highway infrastructure improvements are under way.

The highway improvements are targeted for completion at the end of the year while the airport work, including a new 1,000-vehicle, five-level parking garage, are expected to be ready by next March.
