British Government Backs Heathrow Expansion
The British government backed the expansion of London’s Heathrow Airport this week, looking to build a third runway.
According to a report by the New York Times, the airport is operating at 98 percent of its capacity and therefor is losing ground to other airline hubs in Europe. However, the decision to build a third runway at the airport has been met with opposition.
The report stated the decision to expand, which was announced by transport secretary Chris Grayling, is the start of a lengthy process that is likely to run into legal challenges. The government delayed a parliamentary vote on the matter until next year.
