Moscow Domodedovo Airport held a unique specialized event on June 7, a presentation of the latest equipment for ground handling of aircraft. Attending guests saw the updated fleet of ramp equipment: Boarding steps, ramp transport, de-icing units, and tow-in equipment, to aquire which the airport has spent over 500 mln rubles.

Some types of ramp equipment, that the aviation hub is going to show to mass media and bloggers, are unique for Russian airports. As part of the press tour, they will see the only in the country passenger loading bridge for the largest civil liner Airbus A380. Installation of the two-story passenger loading bridge with three walkways that finished in May, made Domodedovo Airport the only airport in Russia, which is ready to receive A380 on a regular basis.

In addition to the passenger loading bridge, the airport will show the unique in Russia catering highloaders Malaghan CT8000, which have also been purchased specially for A380. A distinctive feature of the highloaders is their elevating mechanism of a double- scissors type that can reach the upper deck of A380.

Since the beginning of the first commercial flights of the latest aircraft Boeing 787 Dreamliner to Russia, Domodedovo Airport has commissioned additional tow-in equipment - towbars J-TOW787 by JMS.

Implementing the environment protection program, Domodedovo Airport is updating the apron equipment park in the light of green trend in aviation. Thus, the largest air hub has acquired self-propelled electric-powered passengers steps instead of traditional diesel ones.

Ensuring efficiency and quality of ground handling of aircraft, Domodedovo Airport has been regularly updating the fleet of ramp equipment.
