DFW International Airport Board Approves New Concessions Outlets For 26 Locations in Terminals B & E
Concessions program updates coincide with Terminal Renewal and Improvement Program (TRIP) plans for customer enhancements
The DFW International Airport Board of Directors approved 14 concessions packages Thursday, June 7. The packages, totaling 26 locations, is part of the new concessions program for Terminals B and E. DFW is upgrading its concessions program in conjunction with the $2.3 billion Terminal Renewal and Improvement Program (TRIP), which started with construction in Terminal A just more than a year ago.
"We are very excited about the new concepts our concessions program is bringing to DFW passengers," said Robert Hsueh, chairman of the DFW Board. "Our mission is to deliver world-class customer service to Airport guests and to give our passengers more of what they want through the concessions program. We feel these new concepts meet that objective."
The local, national and international brands coming to Terminals B and E include:
Food and Beverage: 7-Eleven, Auntie Anne's, Blimpie, Cereality, Dunkin' Donuts, IceBox Cafe, Love Shack, Natalie's Sweet Gourmet, Red Mango, Ruta Maya, Sonny Bryan's Barbecue, UFood Grill, and Wing Stop
Retail: Artizan, the fickle bag, Hudson News, I-Tech X-Perience, Sierra News, Soybu, and Texas Territories
The Board approval culminated an 8-month review and selection process that included extensive customer and market research, comprehensive outreach and education efforts for prospective concessionaires, and a highly collaborative request for proposals (RFP) and evaluation process.
"Our staff once again did an outstanding job in researching concessions concepts and putting forth a fair solicitation process. We were very pleased with the excellent response from prospective concessionaires," said Jeff Fegan, CEO of DFW International Airport. "Because we had such a competitive process, we are confident that the new concessions coming to Terminals B and E are concepts that passengers will really enjoy when the new concessions locations open for business."
TRIP construction in Terminal B began in April 2012 and is expected to be complete in 2015. Construction started in Terminal E in September 2011 with completion scheduled in 2016.
The Airport received a total of 55 proposals for 16 available packages (representing 26 locations) through this competitive process, which was the first of a three-part solicitation for concessions packages in Terminals B and E. Additional opportunities will be made available later this month for more locations in these terminals.
Plans for the revamped Terminals B and E include the allocation of 50% more space for concessions after the TRIP renovations are complete, addressing projections for passenger counts in 2020 and beyond.
In the coming years, DFW will conduct several more RFPs for the concessions outlets in Terminals C that also correspond with TRIP renovations. Terminal C construction and concessions updates are scheduled to be completed in 2017. Opportunities will also be forthcoming in DFW's International Terminal D.
