Disruptions minimal during Stansted baggage strike
Disruption to passengers has been kept to a minimum during a four-day strike by baggage handlers at Stansted Airport.
Swissport employees who are members of the GMB and Unite unions have been on strike since 5.30am on Saturday.
The strike will end at 5.30am tomorrow morning.
A Stansted Airport spokesman said: "Swissport strike contingency plans at Stansted are working well.
"Passengers have been advised to check in with hold baggage as normal."
A Ryanair flight to Ibiza was delayed by 90 minutes yesterday after a worker crashed a set of steps into a plane, but Swissport confirmed that the person responsible was a "local worker" and not someone drafted in to cover for striking staff.
Flights have continued to run to schedule throughout the Jubilee weekend without significant delays.
