Allegiant expands penetration into Hawaii
May 31--Las Vegas-based Allegiant Air is continuing to grow its flight schedule to Hawaii, announcing plans Wednesday for nonstop trips between Monterey, Calif., and Honolulu.
Weekly flights that will operate Fridays between Monterey Regional Airport and Honolulu International Airport will begin Nov. 16.
The airline will use its newly acquired Boeing 757 twin-engine jet fleet for the flights.
Allegiant announced in April that it would begin nonstop flights between McCarran International Airport and Honolulu beginning in June.
The airline also announced once-a-week service from Fresno, Calif., to Honolulu.
Starting in November, Allegiant will add nonstop flights between Honolulu and Bellingham, Wash.; Eugene, Ore.; Santa Maria, and Stockton, Calif. The carrier will also offer nonstop flights between Maui and Bellingham.
Allegiant Travel Co. President Andrew Levy hinted that a seventh mainland destination from Hawaii would be added soon.
