Two airport firms plan expansion at Hernando County Airport
May 06--BROOKSVILLE -- County commissioners will consider lease and incentive agreements Tuesday with two companies planning expansions at the Hernando County Airport.
Combined, Interconnect Cable Technologies Corporation (ICTC) and Pem-Air LLC would create 50 new jobs.
Interconnect Cable plans to spend $2.2 million purchasing and renovating an existing building at the airport. In addition, the company plans to spend $500,000 in capital equipment.
The Hernando County Airport owns a 30,000-square-foot facility located on 4.84 acres in the Industrial Park. Originally designed for the manufacturing of roofing trusses, the building is now vacant.
ICTC plans to purchase the building on an "as is" basis and renovate it into a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility.
With the expansion, ICTC's employment will increase with 40 new full-time positions during a three-year period. ICTC plans to complete the building renovations by the first quarter of 2013.
Since 1988, ICTC has operated at the Hernando County Airport in approximately 24,000 square feet of manufacturing space. The company, with 76 full-time employees, makes customized data and power cabling products.
Pem-Air LLC, located in Davie Fla., has also finalized plans to expand operations at the airport.
Pem-Air is a certified FAA repair station specializing in C-130 aircraft accessories. The company also provides maintenance services to a variety of turboprop and jet aircraft.
The company plans to lease a 9,000-square-foot corporate hangar and use existing airport aircraft storage areas for maintenance work.
Operations would tentatively start within the next 30 days and should bring a variety of cargo and passenger aircraft to Hernando County for maintenance.
Pem-Air expects to hire up to 10 employees in the first year of operation.
Commissioners will consider the Pem-Air corporate hangar lease and license agreement during their meeting.
The county commission meeting begins at 9 a.m. at the Hernando County Government Center, 20?North Main St. in downtown Brooksville.
