East Midlands Airport on track to be 'carbon neutral'
East Midlands Airport is on track to become "carbon neutral" this year.
The airport has been working to achieve the goal by reducing emissions on site.
Measures have included installing wind turbines and water recycling facilities, planting a willow farm to provide a source of carbon neutral fuel, and using carbon neutral passenger transfer buses.
The airport has now started the second phase of its carbon partner scheme, to allow on-site partners - including airline bmibaby - use low carbon vehicles to offset emissions from their operations. Neil Robinson, director of sustainability at the airport, said: "Whilst we are on track to hit our carbon neutral target, we think it is paramount to help other companies be greener.
The carbon partner scheme has been very successful."
