Clear Channel Outdoor to Build Fully Digital Media Network at Hollywood Burbank Airport’s New Terminal
Clear Channel Outdoor has been awarded an eight-year contract to design and operate a fully reimagined airport advertising and sponsorship program at Hollywood Burbank Airport. The new partnership will launch alongside the airport’s Elevate BUR terminal project, opening in 2026, and marks a major modernization of the airport’s media environment.
The program will introduce a nearly all-digital network across the new terminal, using premium design features and high-resolution displays that reflect the creative identity of the surrounding entertainment industry. Screens capable of 3D anamorphic visuals and ultra-high-definition content will be integrated into key passenger areas, creating a visually immersive experience for travelers.
With Clear Channel’s extensive billboard and digital network across the Los Angeles region, advertisers will be able to connect with travelers both inside the terminal and along major roadways. This dual-channel approach allows brands to extend campaigns beyond the airport and maintain consistent visibility throughout the market, including highly trafficked corridors such as the Sunset Strip.
The Elevate BUR project will bring an entirely new passenger terminal to the airport, featuring 355,000 square feet of modernized space, upgraded concessions, a redesigned TSA checkpoint, a new baggage claim, improved accessibility features, and an expanded parking structure with EV charging. The redevelopment also incorporates updated seismic and safety standards and a redesigned airfield layout that increases separation between runways and the new terminal.
Clear Channel’s selection coincides with strong performance indicators for airport advertising. A newly released Nielsen Airport Study commissioned by the company shows that airport media is highly effective at generating engagement and influencing behavior, particularly among frequent travelers and business decision-makers. With continued growth in passenger volumes expected through 2026, Clear Channel anticipates increased demand for high-impact, digitally driven advertising platforms.
“Our vision is to turn Hollywood Burbank Airport into an iconic and immersive media showcase that celebrates the creative spirit of Los Angeles,” said Morten Gotterup, President of Clear Channel Outdoor’s Airports Division. “We’re combining design, technology and storytelling to deliver premium opportunities for advertisers to reach travelers in meaningful ways.”
