Sacramento International Airport Opens West Coast Sourdough as First Step in Major Concessions Revamp
Sacramento International Airport (SMF) has launched the first phase of its concessions modernization program with the opening of West Coast Sourdough, marking the brand’s debut in an airport environment and signaling a new era for food and beverage options across the airport.
The locally owned business introduces a menu centered around fresh sourdough sandwiches, soups, salads, and warm grab-and-go meals — a category frequently requested by travelers and flight crews needing quick, reliable options between flights.
“Today we take the first tangible step in transforming the dining experience at SMF,” said Cindy Nichol, Director of Airports for Sacramento County. “By partnering with locally owned businesses like West Coast Sourdough and aligning our concessions program with our community’s unique identity, we’re building an airport that serves both the traveler and the region. We’re excited to deliver more choice, more local flavor and better service in every terminal.”
Robbie Bassi, owner of West Coast Sourdough, called the opening a significant milestone for the company.
“Opening at Sacramento International Airport is a major milestone for our business,” he said. “I’m incredibly grateful for this opportunity and want to extend my sincere thanks to the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors, the Airport Board of Directors, and the entire SMF concessions team for their support and partnership. We’re excited to build a long-lasting relationship here and to serve our fresh sourdough sandwiches, soups, and salads to travelers and airport staff for many years to come.”
