Areas has finalized its acquisition of Delaware North’s Travel Hospitality Services (THS), adding 237 concessions units across 22 U.S. airports and bringing more than 4,000 employees into the company. The acquisition significantly increases Areas’ presence in the domestic airport concessions market and marks one of the most substantial hospitality consolidations in recent years.

The THS portfolio represents more than $500 million in annual revenue. With the acquisition complete, Areas USA has tripled in size, now operating nearly 400 locations across 27 airports and 12 travel plazas. The U.S. division now includes more than 6,000 employees, making it the largest business unit within Areas globally.

Areas, headquartered in Barcelona, will now generate more than $3.1 billion in annual revenue across 11 countries, operating more than 2,200 restaurants and retail locations and employing 24,000 people worldwide.

Carlos Bernal, CEO of Areas USA, said the company has been preparing for a smooth transition as the two organizations merge. “I want to thank our airport partners, joint venture partners, and brand partners for their continued support,” Bernal said. He noted that Areas remains committed to enhancing traveler-focused dining and retail offerings while maintaining consistent operational performance during the integration.

The acquisition strengthens Areas’ long-term strategy of working with local, regional, and national brands while continuing to grow its proprietary concepts. The expanded portfolio positions the company to compete more aggressively for major airport contracts and increase its influence in the U.S. travel hospitality sector.
