Allegiant Honored by the Flint and Genesee Group for its Significant Contribution

Nov. 8, 2021

Allegiant Travel Company was recognized during the Art of Achievement Awards for its partnership with Flint Bishop Airport. The Las Vegas-based company received the Economic Development Project of the Year Award after announcing earlier this year it will establish a new aircraft and crew base at Flint Bishop.

The Allegiant base at FNT is a $75 million investment that will create 89 high-wage jobs. The company plans to begin its base operations in Flint on February 16, 2022.

"This award reflects the great relationship with Allegiant, our community and the region as a whole," said Nino Sapone, CEO of Flint Bishop International Airport. "The community has continually supported Allegiant since the airline's inaugural flight in 2016 and we are grateful to Allegiant for its continued growth."

"Congratulations to Allegiant on winning an Art of Achievement Award," said Tim Herman, CEO of the Flint & Genesee Group. "Their commitment to invest $75 million, which includes new, high-wage jobs, demonstrates their confidence that Flint and Genesee County is a place where they can be successful. Not only will their investment bring more flight options to local residents and visitors coming to the area, but it will also positively influence the long-term growth of our region, making Allegiant truly deserving of the Economic Development Project of the Year."

Sapone attended the ceremony, held at the historic Capitol Theatre, and accepted the award on Allegiant's behalf.
