Guatemalan company reaffirms its firm commitment to strengthening air connectivity in the region.

The Guatemalan company TAG Airlines made its inaugural flights covering the Guatemala-Cancun and Guatemala-Tapachula routes, marking the start of the company's operations in Mexico.

Julio Gamero, CEO of TAG Airlines, said the new routes will link the two countries and allow leisure and business travelers to reduce travel times and costs.

"Mexico is a strategic destination for the Central American region. Guatemala is the heart of the Mayan world and offers a wide variety of attractions. Cancun is the main tourist destination in Mexico and Latin America, as well as an important pole of attraction for investments; while Tapachula is the main gateway from Central America to Mexico," he said.

Gamero thanked the Mexican authorities of Quintana Roo and Chiapas, as well as the federal ministry of tourism, its commercial partners, and the Guatemalan Institute of Tourism, for making the strengthening of air connectivity between the two nations a reality.

TAG Airlines is a 100 percent Guatemalan company that for 50 years has maintained a commitment to air connectivity and development. It currently operates 27 daily flights in Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Belize and now in Mexico, with a modern fleet of more than 20 aircraft.
