N.J. Man Made Bomb Threat as He Boarded Frontier Flight, Authorities Say

A 66-year-old New Jersey man was arrested Tuesday at an a Florida airport after he claimed he had a bomb in his bag, authorities said.

John Magee, of Carneys Point, was overheard making the threat as he boarded a flight at Palm Beach International Airport just after 5 p.m, the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office said.

Law enforcement evacuated the terminal and searched the concourse as well as the Frontier Airlines flight to Philadelphia that Magee was scheduled to board, but found nothing suspicious.

Magee was charged with making a false report about a bomb, a second-degree felony.

Passengers were allowed back in the concourse at the airport in West Palm Beach around 8 p.m., the sheriff’s office said.

Magee was booked into the county jail Tuesday night and released on $30,000 bond just before 2 p.m. Wednesday, according to online jail records.

A witness told investigators that Magee was slamming a large bag on the ground, while making the threat, according to WPBF.com.
