Berlin — A passenger jet en route from Poland to London was forced to interrupt its flight and touch down in Germany after a bomb threat.

More than 200 passengers and crew were brought into the airport in the western city of Paderborn early on Monday, police said, adding there was no immediate danger.

No suspicious objects were found during the search of the Airbus A321 aircraft operated by a Hungarian airline, according to the police. Specially trained dogs were used in the operation.

The tip-off about the bomb threat came from the Polish air traffic control, a police spokesperson said. The threat had been received by telephone, but further details were initially unavailable.

The passenger jet took off in the Polish city of Posen late on Sunday, before it landed at the Paderborn/Lippstadt airport at 10:05 pm ( 2105 GMT) following orders from the airline.

The airport was not reopened until early on Monday.

It was initially unclear when the 199 passengers and 7 crew members would be able to continue their flight. According to police, they were to be accommodated in hotels in the vicinity "if possible."
