Franco-Dutch Airline Air France-KLM Returns to Profit in 2nd Quarter

Paris — Franco-Dutch airline Air France-KLM returned to profit in the second quarter of 2022. Air France-KLM Group - comprising Air France, KLM and Transavia - reported on Friday that its second-quarter group net income was €324 million ($332 million), compared to last year's loss of €1.49 billion.

Earnings before interests, taxes, depreciation and amortiszation (EBITDA) was €931 million, compared to loss of €249 million a year ago. Revenues surged 143.9% to €6.71 billion from prior year's €2.75 billion. Revenues grew 138.7% at constant currency rates. Passengers grew 224.5% from last year to 22.80 million, and the growth was 82% in Capacity to 72.13 billion available seat kilometres (ASKs), and 243.4% in traffic to 61.37 billion revenue passenger kilometres (RPKs).

Looking ahead, the company continues to expect operating result to be significantly positive in the third quarter.Operating result would be positive in 2022, for the first time since 2019.
