German airline Lufthansa says it will not fly planes through Belarusian airspace, after the forced landing of a Ryanair plane over the weekend and the subsequent arrest of a dissident journalist.
Flights to Moscow, among others, will have to take an alternative route, the firm said.
The airline said it had not decided whether to allow a flight from Frankfurt to Minsk scheduled for Wednesday to go ahead.
In Minsk on Monday, boarding for a Lufthansa flight bound for Frankfurt was stopped and all passengers had to undergo further security checks. Later, the flight landed in Frankfurt with a two-hour delay.
Some 339 flights pass over Belarus per day to and from Europe, according to aviation authority Eurocontrol.
