Nov. 4—Kazakhstan's Civil Aviation Committee is working to launch flights from the newly-commissioned Turkistan International Airport, Trend reports citing the committee.

The report said that initially the flights from Nur-Sultan and Almaty cities to Turkistan are planned. The flights will be operated by three Kazakh airlines FlyArystan, SCAT and Qazaq Air.

Thus, currently FlyArystan has already started selling tickets to the above-mentioned destinations. The first flight Nur-Sultan-Turkestan-Nur-Sultan will take place on December 1, 2020.

International Airport in Kazakhstan's Turkestan city has been commissioned in late Sept. 2020. The project for the construction of the Turkestan International Airport was carried out within the framework of a public-private partnership. The YDA Turkish company is a private partner for the project.

The airport is 20 km away from the city and meets all international standards, using modern technologies. The overall land plot of the airport is 905 ha.

The capacity of its passenger terminal is nearly 3 million passengers a year, whereas its hourly capacity will be 450 passengers. The airport will operate two passenger boarding bridges. — Follow the author on twitter: @nargiz_sadikh
