London (dpa) - easyJet is the latest international carrier to ground all of its flights due to the coronavirus pandemic, announcing on Monday that it could not say when flights will resume.
Most international flight has already been banned due to the spreading coronavirus, which was first identified in China late last year and has since spread to almost every country, leading to more than 30,000 deaths due to the respiratory disease COVID-19.
easyJet joins airlines like Qantas and Etihad in suspending flights for now.
"At this stage there can be no certainty of the date for restarting commercial flights. We will continuously evaluate the situation based on regulations and demand, and will update the market when we have a view," read a statement.
The statement also assured investors that the company's finances remain strong and that it had reached a deal to provide cabin crew with 80-per-cent pay for two months starting on Wednesday.
It noted that it had been working with governments through Sunday to bring 45,000 stranded customers home with 650 rescue flights. The last such flight was on Sunday.
