The unprecedented $2 trillion coronavirus aid bill would provide direct payments to Americans, bolster unemployment insurance, boost small businesses, and much more.
Here are highlights of the package:
A $1,200 check to Americans earning less than $75,000 a year, or a $2,400 check for couples earning less than $150,000 a year. A $500 check per each child.
Adds $600 per week to unemployment checks for four months. Gig workers would also be covered.
$349 billion of loans to eligible small businesses and non-profits. The loans can be forgiven if employers keep their workers on payroll.
$500 billion to support passenger airlines, cargo carriers, and “businesses critical to maintaining national security.”
$150 billion for a “Coronavirus Relief Fund” for state and local governments, and $130 billion for hospitals and health systems.
