July 8, 2019

A plane carrying 60 people made an emergency landing at Yeager Airport Saturday afternoon shortly after takeoff, according to a news release from airport officials.

A PSA Airlines CRJ-700 departed Yeager bound for Charlotte’s Douglas International Airport at 3:22 p.m. After the pilot reported a possible problem with the aircraft’s landing gear, Yeager officials issued an emergency alert, prompting a response from city, county and airport safety personnel.

At 3:51 p.m., the plane landed safely with no injuries reported, according to the release.

Kanawha County Commission president Kent Carper praised safety officials for their quick response.

“I would to thank all of the first responders who quickly answered the call and responded to the airport,” Carper said in a statement.
