India has become the third largest aviation market in terms of domestic passenger traffic, recently surpassing Japan, according to a report from the Centre for Asia Pacific Aviation (CAPA).
Citing the CAPA report, the Malayala Manorama reported that India's domestic air passenger traffic was 100 million in 2016. That mark only trailed the United States and China, which flew 719 million and 436 million passengers, respectively.
India's mark of 100 million passengers beat Japan's 97 million domestic passengers in 2016.
