Mysterious Drone Sightings Reported in Sweden

Jan. 19, 2022

Copenhagen — Air traffic has been diverted at a Stockholm airport following several drone sightings at sensitive locations in Sweden, according to a media report.

Police received reports about four large winged drones in Nacka in the greater Stockholm area, the Aftonbladet newspaper reported on Tuesday evening.

Air traffic at Bromma Airport north of Stockholm was diverted in the evening.

A search for drones is also under way at the Forsmark nuclear power plant, some 100 kilometres north of the Swedish capital.

In the past few days, drones sightings have been reported in various parts of the country where they are not allowed to fly.

Who or what is behind them is unclear.

The police have so far only confirmed that drones have been observed above the Forsmark and Oskarshamn nuclear power plants some 350 kilometres to the south.

Investigations have been initiated and partly handed over to the Swedish intelligence service Säpo.
