On 29th August 2024, China Southern Airlines’ first C919 (B-919J) arrived at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport. After being greeted with a water cannon salute, B-919J taxied to the maintenance area of Guangzhou Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Company Limited (GAMECO).

As a leading global aircraft MRO company, GAMECO has built extensive maintenance capabilities for a broad range of Airbus and Boeing aircraft types and for the COMAC ARJ21. In order to support China Southern Airlines’ C919 operation, GAMECO made significant investments into C919-related training for engineering and line maintenance personnel, tooling and equipment, and spare parts. In early August 2024, GAMECO successfully had the C919 aircraft type added to their CCAR-145 Maintenance Organization Certificate, marking a significant milestone for GAMECO in supporting China’s indigenous aircraft industry.

Mr. Gan Yongjun, Deputy General Manager of GAMECO, stated, “We are honored to provide maintenance and support services for China Southern Airlines' C919 fleet. As a globally competitive aircraft MRO company, GAMECO is also committed to contributing to the development of China’s civil aviation industry. Moving forward, we will continue to enhance our technical expertise and service quality to ensure the safe and efficient operation of China’s indigenously-developed aircraft.”
