Dec. 13—A single-engine plane crashed in a North Texas neighborhood while approaching Addison Airport on the evening of Monday, December 12. Two people were hurt after the plane crash landed in Carrollton, which is north of Dallas.
The incident occurred around 8 p.m. in the area of East Hebron Parkway near Province Drive, roughly two miles north of the Addison Airport runway, according to CBS News. According to the Federal Aviation Administration, the plane, a single-engine Mooney M20, had departed from Abilene Regional Airport and was approaching Addison Airport when it crashed.
Carrollton police said the two people on board were taken to a hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening. No bystanders were injured as a result of the crash, according to CBS.
Videos from the scene showed firefighters hosing down the charred wreckage of the plane.
Officials closed off the area while they worked on the scene. People were also asked to avoid the area as emergency crews worked. It has been reopened as of midnight on Tuesday, December 13.
The FAA finished the preliminary investigation and turned over the accident investigation to the National Transportation Safety Board, according to the Carrollton police.
Addison Airport is a public airport in Addison in Dallas County. It's about nine miles north of downtown Dallas. It has one concrete runway through which it carries out its operations.
