A woman struck by a moving airplane propeller Wednesday morning at Lehigh Valley International Airport was rushed to a nearby hospital with severe injuries, according to a representative of the airport’s owner and operator.

The incident happened just outside the plane’s hangar, said Colin Riccobon, spokesman for the Lehigh-Northampton Airport Authority. Airport rescue and Northampton Regional Emergency Medical Services crews responded to the incident reported shortly after 11:15 a.m., he said.

The propeller plane was a privately owned, non-commercial aircraft, Riccobon said.

Airport authority officials were not planning any additional steps to investigate the incident, Riccobon said.

An employee at Northampton Regional EMS could not immediately provide details about the condition or whereabouts of the victim when asked by lehighvalleylive.com.
