Experienced Avionics Specialist Rick Mutschler Takes on Training Role at Jet East

Oct. 2, 2023

Jet East, an aviation maintenance company offering full-service capabilities and 24/7 AOG maintenance, is proud to welcome seasoned aviation professional, Rick Mutschler, as the company’s Avionics and Electrical Systems Technical Instructor. With an aviation journey spanning nearly four decades, Mutschler brings a skill set and hands-on experience that will significantly complement the existing training program offered by the company.

Mutschler's journey commenced at the age of 17 when he enlisted in the Navy, driven by a love for aviation. He honed his expertise in aviation electronic technology during his two-decade-long service in the military. After concluding his naval career, Mutschler shifted his focus to marine electronics, dedicating five years to enhancing marine electronics aboard cargo ships across the Great Lakes. In 2001, he began a career with Air Services of Cleveland. He remained with the family of companies where he assumed the role of Embraer Product Director before ultimately joining the Jet East team.

Jet East looks forward to leveraging Mutschler’s expertise. With an initial focus on RVSM 91.411 and 91.413 Inspection and Aircraft Battery Maintenance Training, Rick will build his training library to include theory and operation of Aircraft Electrical Systems with courses related to Bleed Air, Thrust Reverser and Cabin Management Systems. In addition, Mutschler plans to implement hands-on training classes that will explore Multimeter Use and Wire Repair and Troubleshooting. A priority for Rick is to assist in building a resource that technicians can access containing tutorials and videos on topics like Engine Downloads and FMS uploads. Rick’s preference for smaller, in-person training sessions where he can demonstrate concepts will provide real life education and scenarios for the team at Jet East.

"I believe in the power of hands-on training. There's an intimate connection that comes from physically working with aircraft systems and avionics. I'm excited to bring this philosophy to Jet East and share my passion for aviation with the next generation of experts," Mutschler commented.
