Magnetic MRO, a key player in aircraft maintenance, is celebrating a remarkable accomplishment—the successful completion of its 100th aircraft paint job.
Rihards Priedkalns, Aircraft Paintshop Manager at Magnetic MRO, reflects on the journey. "Since my early days in 2016, I have been tackling challenges such as painting an airBaltic B737CL in just four days, and progressing to more intricate projects, this milestone highlights our team's dedication and expertise."
With over 13 years in aviation, Priedkalns recalls painting the Bahrain Royal Flight B747SP (A9C-HAK) to VIP standards in a tight 40-day window—a testament to the team's capabilities. Amidst challenges, he fondly remembers painting a B777 aircraft for Football Club Barcelona (A7-BAE), where two artist teams collaborated to paint the entire Barcelona FC flag.
Yet, painting three A220s in Baltic states' flag liveries for airBaltic at the Magnetic MRO paint hangar in Tallinn holds a special place for Rihards. His personal favorite was the Latvian flag livery, presented to Latvia's president on the country's 100th anniversary. The project's secrecy and ultimate success were uniquely fulfilling.
As Rihards stood before the 100th aircraft for Jeju Air at Magnetic Group, he admired the vibrant South Korean livery. The bright orange hue and distinctive dots on the stabilizer, alongside intricate hieroglyphs, made it complex yet fascinating. Overcoming difficulties, they used precision, "We work from well-prepared modification documents that show precise logo positions and directions to apply them correctly."
