SNC Again Earns FAA “Diamond Award” for Continued Aircraft Maintenance Excellence

Both of SNC’s business areas that perform aircraft modifications have earned the prestigious “Diamond Award” honor, which is the highest FAA AMT employer award given.

Sierra Nevada Corporation (SNC), the global aerospace and national security company owned by Eren and Fatih Ozmen, has once again been recognized by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for outstanding commitment to quality, knowledge and safety demonstrated by its Aircraft Maintenance Technicians (AMTs). Both of SNC’s business areas that perform aircraft modifications have earned the prestigious “Diamond Award” honor, which is the highest FAA AMT employer award given.

The 2022 awards mark the 12th for the Mission Solutions and Technologies (MST) business area based in Herndon, Virginia, and 11th consecutive Diamond Award for the Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance (ISR), Aviation and Security (IAS) business area based in Englewood, Colorado.

"Our team of aircraft maintenance professionals spans the globe. Had just one person failed to fulfill the requirements, SNC's chance at success would have been eliminated. The fact that our team has earned this award not just once, but many times over, is representative of the level of skill and professionalism SNC is known for across the industry and is the perfect demonstration of our team's commitment to excellence in everything it does," said Jon Burgoyne, SNC COO and executive vice president of SNC’s IAS business area.

Launched in 1991, the AMT Awards provide incentives for maintenance technicians to participate in ongoing training programs individually or through employer programs. Individuals and companies compete to earn one of five award levels with the Diamond Award signifying the highest honor. It requires that 100 percent of a company’s eligible employees earn individual AMT awards during the calendar year. FAA data shows less than 5% of FAA repair stations earn the Diamond Award. All 142 of SNC’s eligible employees completed all of the individually required aviation maintenance training hours in 2021 to qualify for the award.

“SNC’s aviation technicians are some of the most talented in the industry and this prestigious award is a testament to their expertise and attention to detail,” said Tim Owings, executive vice president of the MST business area. “We are grateful for their unwavering commitment to upholding the FAA’s most rigorous standards of excellence. Even when doing a great job, SNC’s people keep striving to do better. It’s a benefit not only to the company, but to each and every one of our customers who trust us with their lives."

SNC began its work in aviation systems more than 50 years ago. It is a leading, prime integrator for manned and unmanned aircraft, and innovative, high-performance ISR systems. The company designs, engineers, builds, integrates, tests and modifies low-cost, turn-key systems, sustaining multi-mission/multi-intelligence flights for numerous aircraft platforms worldwide.
