Lufthansa Technik Group Establishes New Facility at Dubai South

Feb. 3, 2016
Various technical services will be available at the site, such as repairs to aircraft related components including flaps, radomes, reversers and inlet cowls, as well as AOG (Aircraft-On-Ground) support via a local material support desk.

Lufthansa Technik AG is currently establishing a new facility - Lufthansa Technik Middle East (LTME) - in the Aviation District at Dubai South, in addition to the existing site at Dubai International Airport. LTME will be the 32nd member of the global Lufthansa Technik Group network of companies. The new facility will consist of both
workshops and offices, and will enable the company to gain independent and direct access to customers in the region.

Various technical services will be available at the site, such as repairs to aircraft related components including flaps, radomes, reversers and inlet cowls, as well as AOG (Aircraft-On-Ground) support via a local material support desk.

"In line with our regionalization strategy, we have decided to further develop the product portfolio and the appearance of our current activities here in the Middle East," said Richard Haas, Director Sales Africa & Middle East at Lufthansa Technik. "Both steps are essential prerequisites that will enable us to establish a sustainable presence in the region, as well as to competitively participate in one of the most important MRO markets worldwide."

According to Tahnoon Saif, Vice President of Aviation District, Dubai South, "The Aviation District welcomes a leading global player like Lufthansa Technik. Their facilities here will give the company an operational edge in terms of becoming one of the first international suppliers in the District. Their presence also builds on the aviation
platform which we are building - one that will match the best in the world, in line with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed."

Ziad Al Hazmi, CEO of Lufthansa Technik Middle East, said, "Over the past few months we have engaged very constructively with our partners at Dubai South. The Aviation District has emerged the ideal venue for us to host our new facility. It will put us in prime position as a leader in the aerospace supply chain sphere, and help us enhance
value for our growing list of customers by offering optimized technical services, including our Airframe Related  Component ARC® portfolio which features aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services - literally from nose to tail."

LTME will also offer materials, spare parts, and engine wash services for commercial and VIP customers locally. Further evaluation of additional capabilities is ongoing and will depend on further customer requirements. The current LTME site at Dubai International Airport will be kept operational. The formal registration of the company name has already received non-written approval.
