Microturbo Assumes Responsibility for Bizjet Development APU Programs; Company to Collaborate with Pratt & Whitney AeroPower on Future APU Programs

Microturbo will lead on opportunities in the business jet APU segment and Pratt & Whitney AeroPower will lead on opportunities in the regional APU segment.

Microturbo (Safran, NYSE: SAFRAN), and Pratt & Whitney AeroPower, a subsidiary of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX), announced today Microturbo will assume full responsibility for the design, production, product support and service of the APS2[800] and APS500[D] APU programs for Bombardier and Dassault Aviation. The companies will also extend their existing relationship to allow collaboration on future business jet and regional APU programs. In such cases, Microturbo would lead on opportunities in the business jet APU segment and Pratt & Whitney AeroPower would lead on opportunities in the regional APU segment.

The collaboration was initiated in 2011 to develop new-generation electrical and bleed auxiliary power units for the business jet. The APS2[800] APU is designed for Bombardier’s Global 7000 and 8000 aircraft. The APS 500[D] is the APU for Dassault’s Aviation Falcon 5X.
