OLATHE, Kan./August 17, 2021 – Garmin International, Inc., a unit of Garmin Ltd., is pleased to announce a new update to the GTX 345DR transponder for government and defense operators that adds Identification Friend or Foe (IFF) Mode 1 and 2 capabilities with automatic dependent surveillance-broadcast (ADS-B) “Out” compliance to meet both civil and military transponder requirements when paired with a compatible GI 275 electronic flight instrument, G3X Touch flight display, or G3000 integrated flight deck. In addition, the GTX 345DR transponder provides operators with ADS-B “In” capabilities that decrease pilot workload, help increase mission effectiveness, and more.

With the GTX 345DR transponder, government and defense operators can now meet transponder requirements of IFF Mode 1 and 2 capability to help controlling agencies positively and quickly identify an aircraft to determine the mission it is flying and better confirm whether the aircraft is friendly or hostile during training missions. In addition, the GTX 345DR transponder also provides government and military operators with ADS-B “In” features such as weather and traffic information that work to increase situational awareness as well as providing safety-enhancing tools and advanced capabilities that help decrease pilot workload.

Garmin provides a wide range of products and capabilities that allow government and defense operators to access certified, cost-effective, and reliable products that help increase mission effectiveness. The IFF Mode 1 and 2 capability is available immediately and also includes ADS-B capability to meet civil and military transponder requirements in a cost-effective all-in-one solution.

The IFF capability builds on the portfolio of commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) G3X Touch, GTN Xi, GI 275, and G600 TXi systems bringing cutting-edge capabilities as well as communication, navigation, surveillance, and air traffic management (CNS/ATM) compliance that is readily available as an incremental upgrade without the cost of a major avionics modernization program. This is the latest offering from Garmin expanding its solutions for the government and defense market and builds on recent achievements integrating the G3000 into the F-5 platform and collaborating with Ace Aero to bring the G5000H® platform to the UH-60/S-70 family of helicopters. The G3000 and G5000H are fully open architecture integrated flight deck platforms that reduce life cycle costs and integrate critical mission systems such as TACAN, Mil-GPS, inertial navigation systems (INS), and a variety of cutting-edge missions computers.
