ROLLING MEADOWS, Ill., July 30, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Northrop Grumman Corporation's (NYSE:NOC) Rolling Meadows Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Certified Repair Station received its second consecutive Diamond Award for Excellence from the FAA for the company's commitment to maintenance training and safety. The company received the award at a recent ceremony held at the facility.

The FAA Certified Repair Station was established to meet regulatory requirements for customers operating aircraft under civil aviation rules. The station services a variety of systems, including Northrop Grumman's infrared countermeasure (IRCM) systems. The facility opened in 2009.

"The work we do in IRCM at Rolling Meadows demands the highest level of performance and technical expertise," said Carl Smith, vice president of infrared countermeasures for Northrop Grumman's Land and Self Protection Systems division. "This second consecutive FAA Diamond Award recognizes our employees' commitment to maintaining that performance through regular training and education. Continuous customer satisfaction and overall aircraft and crew safety are ensured through this level of competence."

In addition to the facility award, every repair station employee received an individual Aviation Maintenance Technician Award for successful participation in the recurrent training program.

The repair station was also recognized recently by the National Air Transport Association with a second consecutive Five Star Award for its dedication to aviation maintenance technician training. The Five Star Award is the highest recognition for aviation maintenance training offered by the association.
