Small Plane Crashes at South Albany Airport; 3 Hurt

All three occupants of a small plane that crashed after takeoff from South Albany Airport on Thursday afternoon were taken to a hospital with unknown injuries, town police said.

May 11—BETHLEHEM — All three occupants of a small plane that crashed after takeoff from South Albany Airport on Thursday afternoon were taken to a hospital with unknown injuries, town police said.

Police said they responded to the scene just before 3:45 p.m. The plane was located at the south end of the runway in an area of tall grass.

The cause of the crash was not immediately available. The National Transportation Safety Board has been notified and will be investigating, police said.

The South Albany Airport is a small, privately owned airport off Creble Road in Selkirk.

In an unrelated matter, town police were also called to the scene of a car crash at about 2 p.m. on Route 85 near the Albany city line. The drivers of both vehicles were taken to the hospital with unknown injuries, police said Thursday evening.

Bethlehem police and the Albany County Crash Investigation Team are investigating.
